About the Sales Forecast

Frequently asked questions

What file do I need?

A CSV, Excel or text PDF with a date and a number on each row, such as sales, visits or hours. A year or more of history gives the most reliable forecast, and seasons need at least two years.

How do I know how far to trust it?

Each method is tested on your own past: it forecasts months it was not shown, and the misses are compared with what really happened. The one that missed least is used, and the page shows how far off it usually is.

How is this different from the Financial Projection?

This page works out what your history points to. The Financial Projection is for entering your own growth, costs and hiring to project profit and cash.

Does every file get a forecast?

No. A forecast is shown only when the file has the history and fields needed to estimate one. Otherwise the page says what is missing.
