Business Budget Planner
Sales, costs, payroll, loans and tax, month by month.
About the Business Budget Planner
Budget a business the way you think about it: sales, the cost of what you sell, fixed costs, a team with every employer tax, loans, big purchases and the tax to set aside. The planner shows profit, cash at the end of each month, the lowest point and when it comes, and downloads as an Excel workbook with every formula and chart.

Frequently asked questions
What does a hire really cost?
Pay plus the employer’s 6.2% Social Security (up to the wage base) and 1.45% Medicare, 0.6% federal unemployment on the first $7,000, state unemployment on its own base, and any benefits. The Team tab adds all of it for each role, month by month, with the yearly caps applied per person.
How much tax should a business set aside?
For a sole owner or single-member LLC: self-employment tax plus the owner’s federal and state income tax on the profit, after the qualified business income deduction. For an S corporation: the owner’s income tax on the profit, with the owner’s salary as payroll. For a C corporation: 21% federal plus the state’s top corporate rate.
Are equipment purchases deducted?
The planner treats equipment as written off in the year it is bought, as Section 179 allows for most equipment up to the yearly limit. Owner pay is not a business expense, so it does not lower the tax.
How is cost of goods handled?
Set it as a share of sales on the Costs tab, and it moves with sales each month. Fixed costs go in as their own lines.
Is my business data sent anywhere?
No. Everything stays in this browser, and you can turn that off. The Excel download carries every formula, so you can keep working in Excel and open the file here again later.
Can I plan a purchase, like a truck?
Add it as a goal with the month you need it. Cash left each month goes toward it, and the planner shows whether you will have it in time or how much more a month it needs.
