About the Bank Statement Converter

Turn a bank statement PDF, CSV or OFX into Excel, one clean CSV, a QuickBooks .QBO or QuickBooks Online CSV, a Xero bank statement CSV, a Quicken .QIF or a plain OFX file. The full analysis comes with it.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose a .csv, .pdf, .ofx, .qfx, .qbo, .xlsx, .xls, .tsv, .txt file, or drop it on the upload box. Several monthly statements at once work too.
  2. If a column is uncertain, confirm it. Clean files go straight to the results.
  3. Read the summary, then open a tab for the detail: spending, bills, problems, profit and tax, reconcile or download.

Frequently asked questions

Is the bank statement converter free?

Yes. It is free and needs no account.

Which files does it read?

.csv, .pdf, .ofx, .qfx, .qbo, .xlsx, .xls, .tsv, .txt files up to 10 MB. PDF statements downloaded from online banking work; scanned paper statements do not, because they hold a picture rather than text.

What if a column is not recognised?

Columns are matched from their contents as well as their names. When a match is uncertain the tool asks you to confirm it before showing anything, and any column can be changed afterwards.

Can I upload a whole year of statements at once?

Yes. Choose up to 24 files from the same account together, such as twelve monthly PDFs. They are merged into one list, and a transaction that appears in two overlapping files is counted once.

Can I get a profit and loss or a budget from my bank statements?

Yes. The same upload gives a cash-basis profit and loss (sales less costs, counted when the money moved), a cash flow statement, and a budget you can set per category. Owner draws, transfers between your accounts, loan principal and tax payments are kept off the profit and loss, with the reason listed.
