About these guides

Step-by-step instructions for getting a transaction CSV out of your bank, how far back each one goes, and what to do with the file.

Before you upload

  1. Pick the account and the date range you need on the provider’s own website.
  2. Download transactions as CSV or Excel; a downloaded PDF statement works too.
  3. Open the file in the insytesBI bank statement analyzer and confirm any column it asks about.

Frequently asked questions

Should I download a CSV or a PDF statement?

Either works with insytesBI. The PDF statement your bank lets you download is read directly; a CSV is slightly more reliable because every transaction already sits in its own row. Scanned paper statements cannot be read, because they hold a picture rather than text.

How far back can I download transactions?

It depends on the bank: from about 60 or 90 days per download at some banks to 18 months at others. Each guide gives the window for that provider. For older periods, use your monthly statements.

What can I do with the file once I have it?

Upload it to the free bank statement analyzer for cash flow, spending by category, recurring charges, a budget and a profit and loss. The same page converts it to Excel, a clean CSV or a QuickBooks file.
